Panning The Globe: Frequently Asked Questions

Thanks for stopping by! Here are some of the questions I get asked most often about Panning The Globe - everything from how I come up with the recipes to how I make money blogging. If you have additional questions, please let me know!

bowl of white bean turkey chili verde topped with slices of avocado, sour cream, shredded cheese and sliced scallions.

How do you come up with your recipes?

I get recipe inspiration from many sources — from cookbooks, dishes I discover while traveling, and meals that wow me at restaurants, just to name a few. Sometimes I pick a country and dive deep into its cuisine, researching ingredients and techniques before heading to the kitchen to recreate those flavors at home.

All of the recipes on Panning The Globe are my own creations or dishes I truly adore and have permission to share. Each one is tested and refined until it’s just right.

Do you have a team — who takes the photos?

That would be me — Lisa! I do all of the cooking, testing, food styling, photography, and writing for Panning The Globe. I’m pretty controlling when it comes to the content on this site (I admit it!), but that’s how I make sure everything is up to my standards.

You can read more about me and how I work on my About Me page.

You said you do all the cooking — but your husband has some recipes on the site?

He does! My husband, Eddie, is a fantastic cook, an amazing bread baker, and the mixologist behind some of the best cocktails on the site. He’s also the author of Eddie’s Award-Winning Chili — one of the most popular recipes on Panning The Globe.

When Eddie contributes, I’m still right there beside him — testing, tasting, photographing, and giving my final approval. I also occasionally collaborate with family and friends. For example, my friend Sonia, who is from Venezuela, spent the day teaching me how to make authentic Arepas. Those kinds of shared kitchen moments are some of my favorites.

Can I use your photos on another website?

No, please don’t. All of the photos on Panning The Globe are my original work and are protected by copyright.

If you’d like to feature one of my recipes, you’re very welcome to use one photo along with a short description and a clear link back to the original recipe post. (See my Press page for examples.)

Do you accept guest posts or sponsored posts?

No, I don’t. While I receive a lot of offers from companies who want to pay me to recommend products or add links to my site, I turn them all down.

I do all the recipe development and posting on this site, and I only recommend products I personally use and love. I only link out to resources that I believe will genuinely help you cook better or understand a recipe more deeply.

How do you make money from your blog?

My income comes from ads on the site. I work with an ad management company called Mediavine, which handles all the logistics so I can focus on creating great recipes.

The more people like you who visit the site (and even better — read through the posts before jumping to the recipe!), the more ad revenue I earn. I work hard to keep ads at a reasonable level so you have a good user experience while I can still make a living doing what I love.

Can I republish your recipes on another website?

No, please don’t copy and paste my recipes elsewhere. I spend a lot of time developing, testing, and photographing them, and they’re the heart of my business.

If my recipes are republished on other sites, it can hurt my traffic because search engines like Google may send visitors to those duplicates instead of my original posts.

That said, I’d be thrilled if you’d like to link to one of my recipes from your site or include it in a roundup. Please include a proper link to the original recipe on Panning The Globe. (See my Press page for examples.)

Can I share your recipes on social media?

Yes! Sharing a link to my recipes on Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest is always welcome — and appreciated! Just please don’t post the full recipe text or photos without permission.

What are your favorite recipes on your site?

That's a really tough one to answer. There are hundreds of recipes on this site and I love them all! But here are a few dishes I come back to again and again, all year long.

I make my Easy Goat Cheese Appetizere for almost every dinner party. Aleppo Pepper chicken is my go-to recipe during grilling season. Our regular weeknight dinner rotation includes Broiled Salmon with apricot glaze, Roasted Fennel with White Beans and Tomatoes, Quick Turkey Ragu, Healthy Ground Turkey Soup and Easy White Bean Turkey Chili Verde.

I make this Lemon Vinaigrette for almost every salad, and for lunch I love Curried Chicken Salad and Coconut Curry Red Lentil Soup.

Hey, what’s that delicious-looking dish in the photo at the top of this page?

That’s my Easy White Bean Turkey Chili Verde - Looks good, doesn't it? We love it for weeknights, and it's also great for feeding a crowd!

Still have questions?

Is there a question I didn’t answer here? I’d love to hear from you — send me a note through my Contact page. You can also visit my About Me page, which has lot of info about me, my recipes and what Panning The Globe is all about.
